Cross Country Win

Let’s “Philyaw” in on with what’s been going on with Millbrook’s Cross Country teams. On Wednesday, October 28, both the boys and girls Cross Country team ran at the Conference 21 Championships race. The girls team came in first and our boys team came in second. Tyler and Kaycee Cox-Philyaw ran the 5k and contributed to Millbrook’s success. Both Millbrook teams will advance to regionals.

Kaycee, a freshman, ran a great race, came in 4th and set her personal best with a time in the low 20 minutes. Kaycee has always enjoyed running. from when she started her career at Sacred Heart Academy in preschool to now. Kaycee said, “What you put in is what you get out of it.” She has the finish line in mind when she running. “I’m like in the zone. What do I have to do to get through this race,” said Kaycee.

Tyler, Kaycee’s older brother and senior, ran for Millbrook’s Boy’s Cross Country Team. Tyler ran a 16 minute and 14 second 5k. Tyler is very competitive and is looking forward to the tough competition at regionals. “I just like to win,” said Tyler. The race is Tyler’s favorite part about running and the competition is what drives him to win. Tyler said, “My favorite part of the team is how we’re all just a bunch of brothers hanging out.”
