DECA – March Notes

DECA members just returned from the state championship that was held in Virginia Beach. To compete at the competition, members have to pick a topic to research and write a thirty page paper on the topic that they have chosen. For example, one group’s topic was rebranding the Winchester Royals. Then at the competition DECA members had fifteen minutes to present their topic to the judges. Twelve teams from Millbrook competed against thousand of other schools and three groups (fourteen students) from Millbrook are going to nationals in Anaheim, California. “The experience was fun and it’s cool to travel and get to experience a school trip, while still getting to learn new things and hang out with friends” said Camden Gardiner about his thoughts about the competition and on competing. The BlueXpress wishes to congratulate the winners and good luck at nationals.

Important DECA club news: Next week is DECA week where students throughout the school are on a mission to find “DECA Diamonds” to earn prizes. This event is not just for DECA students. The whole school can join in on the fun. On DECA day, members were their club shirts and get a gift.

DECA encourages students to join because, “ it’s a cool and easy club to get involved in” said Savanna Pearson. In DECA, students get to learn skills that will be valuable in the workforce. Students in the club get real life experience that they would not get in a classroom. To get more information on DECA events, please go to their twitter, instagram and they have a google classroom page.
