The “Google Ninjas” are a new team of students always ready to help students solve issues with their chromebooks. They are located at the Google help desk in the library. Thomas Parks, a sophomore, is a member of the Google Ninjas team. The announcement for the need of team members was made over the announcements last year, which caught Thomas’s attention. Being a Google Ninja has allowed Thomas to combine working with computers with the ability to help others. The application process included an interview. “A few days later, we got an email saying we were hired,” said Thomas.
Training for the position was set up through Google. “It had like these levels,” said Thomas, “The levels were the belts, which is another reason why we call ourselves ninjas.” Each level finished with a test. “Sometimes it [the training] was annoying, but other times it was interesting,” Thomas added. One valuable lesson from training was how to fix the problems with the Chromebooks that will not come on.
The “Google Ninjas” team was created to help the IT department with the over 1200 Millbrook students with their Chromebook issues. “We call ourselves “Google Ninjas” because we needed something to put on a lanyard,” Thomas laughed. He added it’s also a joke among the team. The Google Ninjas are in the library everyday during fifth and sixth periods to help students with Chromebook issues and before school at 7:15.
