He said, She said- Vice Presidential Debate 2016

On October 4, CBSN held the first Vice Presidential debate of the 2016 election cycle at Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia. Republican candidate Governor Mike Pence and Democratic candidate Senator Tim Kaine debated for one hour and thirty minutes. As the debate went on, each candidate began using more and more character attacks of not only their opponent’s running mate, but each other.

Outrage was heavily posted on social media from the American public due to the candidates’ behavior and the moderator’s weak efforts to control the direction of the debate.  Senator Kaine and Governor Pence intruded on the each other’s speaking time and sentences. Although the candidates covered many issues, such as defense and the United States economy, the debate became difficult to follow due to the unruly behavior of each candidate. The American people, despite the negative opinions, still crowned a winner of the debate. According to a poll conducted by NBC and CNN news, Governor Mike Pence won the debate over Senator Kaine.
