Ipsy is a monthly beauty subscription box. It is $10 monthly. Ipsy was created by Youtuber, Michelle Phan. Each month subscribers will get a “Glam Bag” with four to five deluxe and full-sized products. Each bag is created for each subscriber. January’s theme was “All Eyes On You.” Subscribers can review the products they got to receive points. The points can be used to get free products available on the site. This month I received an eyeshadow, eyebrow pencil, large angle shadow brush, eyeliner, and a facial lotion.
The MARSK Mineral Eyeshadow I got is in the shade Mudcake. A little goes a long way, so be careful with getting so much product. It’s very creamy and smooth. The eyeshadow is pigmented, but you can easily blend it down to make it sheer. It’s very sparkly, which is not really my thing, so I probably won’t be using this very much.
I got the Promise Organic Ultra Moisturizing Argan Creme Facial Lotion. It came in a small bottle of 14ml. It does have a slight ‘organic’ smell to it, but it’s still a pleasant smell. It’s extremely smooth and creamy, so I can definitely see how it is ultra moisturizing. It’s great for normal to dry skin; my skin is a bit on the oily side. I wouldn’t be able to use this much as my face rarely ever gets dry.
The next thing I got was the OFRA Cosmetics Universal Eyebrow Pencil. This is my absolute favorite product from January’s bag. The color is the definition of perfect. Its also very buildable to perfect your eyebrows. I do feel a slight weight when I apply this, but then the feeling just goes away. My eyebrows last for the entire day. I will definitely be buying more in the future.
The Balm Cosmetics’ Mr. Write (now) eyeliner is a COMPLETE miss for me. I got the shade Jack B. Bronze (rich bronze). The product itself is pretty good. It doesn’t smudge and it’s a smooth application. The reason it’s such a miss for me because the color really does not do anything for my eyes. This eyeliner will just have to get comfortable in the back of the ‘miscellaneous stuff I will probably never use again’ drawer.
The last, but certainly not the least thing I received was the Coastal Scents Pearl Shadow Angle Large Brush. I haven’t used the brush much because I don’t really put eyeshadow on. By the look of the brush, it’s not very special. I’m pretty sure there are better brushes in the market. The bristles are soft. I bought a 32 peice set of brushes for about $15. I feel like those brushes are about the same quality, but the Coastal Scents brush I got is better by like three percent.
Overall this bag gets a rating of two and a half eyes out of five eyes. Out of the five products, I’m only really going to be using one. One will never see the light of day and the other three are just ok. The bag itself is pretty sweet and does fit all the products I got. This is my first Ipsy bag, so it could be the reason why the products were meh. Maybe after a few months, they’ll get to know what I do and don’t like.
