Mrs. Steblein has been teaching biology at Millbrook High School for ten years, but this year will be her last. Overall, she has been teaching for thirty six years; ten in New York, ten in South Carolina, ten in Virginia, and six in Texas. It may be surprising for some people to know that Mrs. Steblein did not always aspire to be a biology teacher.
Her first goal was to be a physical therapist, however, with the advice of her parents, she switched career paths to become a teacher. She found teaching much more rewarding because she’s able to help the kids achieve their goals. Mrs. Steblein is sad to be leaving Millbrook because she loves interacting with the kids, and she stated that “The kids are wonderful and respectful.” However, she does have big plans for the future.
Mrs. Steblein is moving to Charleston, South Carolina to be closer to her two sons and is planning on spending as much time outdoors as possible. She loves the beach, horseback riding, and traveling to National Parks. She plans to enjoy life, as she is still energetic after all these years. This is Millbrook’s last year having Mrs. Steblein and she added, “I’m glad I was able to finish my career at Millbrook and I am going to miss it.” She wishes all her students the best and hopes that they walk away from her class loving science.
