On Monday, August 31, the senior members of the National Honors Society met for the first time this school year. The group is excited to get started on another year of service and academics. The junior class has not yet been inducted, but don’t miss the announcement to apply.

During the meeting, the year’s expectations were discussed as well as service project requirements and deadlines. In order to be awarded a stole at graduation, all senior members must complete three level one, two, and three projects. For further explanations, see any of the council members.

Along with these overviews, the new NHS council members were introduced. Tyler Cox-Philyaw as president, Colin Hood as vice-president, Hannah Croyle as secretary, and Kellie Schartow as treasurer.

The first opportunity to gain a level one project was the Book Drive where students had the opportunity to donate a book or two to be loved by a young reader at Redbud Elementary School.

October has some exciting events such as the Color Me Blue 5k here at Millbrook High School on October 24th and Kids Voting at Sherando High School on October 22nd. Projects and information will be posted on Mr. Hammer’s door and more projects will be presented throughout the year. Get ready for another great year of MHS NHS.
