Retro Review: Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater Series

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater was a series that started back in 1999 and was published by Neversoft. The game’s official release date was August 31,1999 and was originally designed for PlayStation. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater is an arcade skateboarding game that allows you to choose from a wide variety of professional skateboarders. Some pro skaters that have been featured in the series include: Andrew Reynolds, Chad Muska, Bucky Lasek, Eric Koston, and of course the legendary Tony Hawk.Image result for tony hawk pro skater

The series is also known for having secret characters in the games that are the farthest thing from a pro skater. Spiderman, Darth Maul, Wolverine, and Jango Fett are just a few examples of those secret characters. There is a also a huge selection of maps and skate parks that you can play and complete a ton of challenges. The goal of the game is to complete as many challenges as you can in two-minute increments. Your skater has the ability to do an unlimited amount of tricks and combos that are incredibly unrealistic, however it is what makes this series so iconic.

I personally love the series and everything the games have to offer. They have provided me with countless hours of pure enjoyment and satisfaction. The fact that the series started 17 years ago and is still keeping kids entertained proves that it has stood the test of time. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater is one of those series where you can play any of the games for hours on end and never get sick of them. I give this game a solid 10 out of 10.
