Summer is ending, and fast. It’s important to remember those summer assignments. If you’ve forgotten what you may have to do before school starts, here is the list of all the summer assignments for this year.
Honor’s English 9:
-Read To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
-Complete a dialectical journal to encourage critical thinking
-Collaborate online with other students to help create meaning
Honor’s English 10:
-Read Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe
-Use the cultural categories note-taker to record ideas about each category with thorough, insightful and specific quotes references from the novel
-Participate in online discussions on the Honor’s English summer Google Classroom
AP English 11:
-Read Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury
-Get on the internet, go through your magazine and newspaper subscriptions, and watch TV. You will choose, analyze, and interpret examples of visual and/or print media sources that use persuasion. You will need 5 examples, total. Think about the examples you choose—find some that are in your areas of interest.
AP English 12:
-Read two texts from within the same time period in British literature (choose from the books listed on the informational packet given to future AP English 12 students)
-Write a 1000-1500 word comparative analysis paper determining the defining features of writing during that time period, due the first day of class
-Complete the review packet given by Ms. Barker
