The Millbrook High School musical The Little Mermaid is filled with many talented students with beautiful voices.  The BlueXpress featured the ladies of the whimsical ensemble, but what about the gentlemen? The boys in the ensemble are made up of junior Brendon O’Donnell, sophomore Charlie Shepley, and freshman Liam Sinnathamby.

The oldest, Brendon, has been involved in theater since middle school.  “It was kind of a side hobby in eighth grade and then throughout high school I got into musical theater.”  Liam has not been in many productions because of his middle school director leaving.  He has only been in one musical, Schoolhouse Rock Jr. playing as an ensemble member.  “I love musicals because I get to sing and meet new people.”  He also loves how advanced and professional it is in The Little Mermaid production.  Charlie said that he does not have a big background in theater and that all he has is “work, work, work”.  Charlie works on a farm and has helped out with the Millbrook band since he was six.  “I had three older brothers in band and ever since then I have helped out with the pit,” he said.  He was also in band for three years before coming to high school.

O’Donnell has been a part of the cast of Shrek The Musical as one of the three pigs and was also involved in last year’s musical Little Shop of Horrors, which was his favorite.  “I feel like the cast was fun and alive and energetic.”  He said that the dark humor made it all the more fun to be in.  Charlie was also in the show and described the experience as good, but wasn’t used to the high school point of view in musical theater.  “This year I’m more experienced and prepared.”

All of the boys are most excited for the final product of the show.  Shepley said that the show is very interesting and fun. “Especially with all the people in it and all the different characters there are.”  Brendon feels the same with seeing how they get the underwater set together.  “The fact that we’re all swimming around with Heelys and such,” he said.  These three boys are ready to take on the ensemble roles and are having tons of fun in the magical show with their strong voices and talent.
