SuitX is a company that manufactures exoskeletons for industrial, military, and medical use. They have multiple exoskeleton models available such as the the MAX suit and the new Phoenix exoskeleton. The Phoenix is the lightest and most advanced design used for allowing those disabled from the waist down to easily be able to stand upright and walk.
The Phoenix weighs about 27 lbs and is capable of moving at a speed of at least 1.1 mph, but the maximum speed is dependent on the user. The Phoenix has a modular design providing easy configuration and adjustment of the parts to customly fit the user (If the person is tall or short, or only needs the Phoenix for one leg, it can be configured to the user’s needs easily). On a full charge, the Phoenix can be used continuously for 4 hours and for 8 hours if used for short periods of time.
Unfortunately, the Phoenix comes with a hefty price tag of $40,000, so it’s not the most consumer friendly product when it comes to price. Fortunately, as many other companies of new technologies are also planning to do, SuitX is planning on reducing the price to more affordable levels as they continue to develop the Phoenix. If SuitX can manage to bring the price of exoskeletons down to a couple thousand dollars, then the availability of exoskeletons will be much higher and more people will have the opportunity to use such an advanced technology.
