The (Uncertain) Fall of South Park

South Park is an animated television series created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone. Altogether, they have a large collection of episodes – over 20 seasons. However, I noticed a slight change in the effort put into the series, and not in a good way. If you were to go back to season 15, for example, you would notice that every episode has no relations to the one before it. Every episode would focus on a different subject, relative to the time the episode was planned. These were my favorite kinds of episodes.

I feel that during these last two seasons, they started to change the way they produce their seasons. Instead of every episode being different, they make the whole season revolve around a plot. The first of the two is about advertising and being politically correct. They do have a couple episodes on this season that are unrelated and are actually pretty good. However, I felt most of the episodes were just filler. The humor was not as amusing as it was for previous seasons. The most recent season that aired was even more disappointing. The whole season consisted of several different plots. From Trump and Hillary, to internet trolling on social media. While I’ll admit I did enjoy the parts focusing on the trolling, I didn’t really care about anything else going on. It all just felt really stale.

In conclusion, I would like to state that I love South Park, but I feel if they keep going in this direction, it won’t end positively. Still, they have realized their mistakes they made while making this season.
