Ms. Keeler has kindly released some top secret information on this year’s Homecoming.
On October 22, Millbrook High School will hold its annual Homecoming Dance following a full week of homecoming activities from 7pm to 10pm. These include daily dress up themes, football games, and the door decorating competition. Freshman Lauren Banks is excited for her first homecoming and said, “I think it will be fun.” Freshman Nicole Valyear said, “Homecoming is probably gonna be dark, sweaty, and it’lll ruin my dress–but that’s okay.”
In an exclusive interview, Ms. Keeler gave new information concerning this year’s dance and other surprises. She said that the dance will be decorated with Millbrook school colors, as per usual, but she added, “It’s got like a starry night theme. We’re gonna have a place where you can take pictures that has a moon and a star background.” She also said, “And they also have glow-in-the-dark stuff that they’ll be giving out at the dance.”
The second piece of exclusive information she gave is that the dance will feature two new DJs. The man and woman from Maryland are called Dynamic DJ Entertainment and specialize in school dances. Beginning on October 7, students will be able to tweet to them @MAPDJA1 with the hashtag #MHS1022 to submit their song requests. These requests will be taken from noon on October 7 to noon on October 21. It is also required that the song submitted be “radio friendly” and the DJs will be monitoring the songs requested for this reason. Ms. Keeler said, “There’s gonna be more information out about the song requests soon.”
Mrs. Keeler also said that the dance will require semi-formal dress and tickets will cost $10. Jeans are prohibited. Concerning Homecoming Week, Ms. Keeler said that she is most excited about America Monday and Tacky Tourist Tuesday. This year, Spirit Week will start on Friday, October 14, which will be Character Day, since there is no school on Friday, October 21. The Powderpuff Football Game will be on Wednesday, October 19, which is same day as the PSAT and Sports Attire Day, at 7pm and tickets will cost $5. The Student/Faculty Tailgate will be on Friday, October 21 at 5:30pm, and the Homecoming Game will be at 7pm on the same day.
The Homecoming Pep Rally will be on Thursday, October 20, where, Ms. Keeler said, there will be another surprise, which she could not release at this time.
