At the 31st Grammy Awards in 1939 DJ Jazzy Jeff won the Grammy for Best Rap Performance with their song, “Parent’s Just Don’t Understand.” This was the first time Best Rap Performance was ever a category. Best Rap Performance was awarded once again in 1990 to Young MC. The award was not presented at the Grammys again for 22 years until 2012 when it was awarded to Jay-Z and Kanye West.
“If my mind can conceive it, and my heart can believe it, I know I can achieve it.” – Jesse Jackson. In 2000, Jesse Jackson won the highest civilian award in the U.S., the Presidential Medal of Freedom. This medal recognizes honorable civilian service he has done. In 1993 he negotiated pilot Robert O. Goodman Jr.’s release after he had been shot down and taken hostage by Syrian terrorists. This is just one of the Reverend’s greatest achievements.
