Some of the team’s best performances were at the Get the Bell Rung tournament where they place first overall. Another performance was when the team finished 2nd at Mayhem at Millbrook.
The Pioneer’s wrestling team overall had a spectacular season. This season the team got a new dual meet record with 28-9.
Coach Holmes was satisfied with the results of this season. He said, “Last year we only qualified 1 wrestler for states, but this year we had 6 qualify and 4 place winners, which was a huge improvement.” This year’s wrestling team was very solid, and even though they are going to lose 5 seniors, the freshman class was talented. According to Holmes, “the freshman to look out for is Jonathan Ochoa. He was the first freshman since Dylan Wiseman to qualify for states.” Another freshman to look out for is Lukas Guerrero, who played a big part in the team’s success as a freshman starter.
